Sharing your Children’s Birth Stories with Them

Years ago, a MOPS speaker said children love knowing the details of how they came into the world because it helps them grasp that they are each individuals with their own story and purpose and also a special gift to God and us. Have fun sharing your children’s birth stories with them and the miracles they are!

Meltdowns…

As a parent, I’m assuming you have encountered many meltdowns from your kids as I have. One of my daughter’s mega meltdowns is what inspired me to right this article below. I hope it encourages you and that you are reminded that the most important thing your children need is YOU. Hope you have a wonderful rest of the week!

Meaning of Your Children’s Names

unnamed-2Do your children know what their names mean? Comment below to share your children’s name and meanings (and even yours!)- I’d love to hear them (And it will give people more ideas of names if they’re expecting!) (:

The Lord changes so many people’s names in the Bible: Abram to Abraham, Sarai to Sarah, Shadrach to Hananiah, Saul to Paul, and the list goes on. Names have so much significance. Have fun this week sharing the story and meaning of your children’s names with them- they will love hearing about it!

Loving God & Loving Others

I recently had an article published, “Bringing Peace to Your Marriage: The Art of Knowing When to Speak & When to be Silent.” Click here to read it: https://www.church.org/2018/04/11/bringing-peace-marriage-art-knowing-speak-silent/

On another note, I broke my toe the other day (yes, I’m clumsy- second toe I’ve broken!). My daughter later accidentally stepped on it- ouch! She spent the next couple minutes being mad at herself and speaking rudely to her brother. She was self-consumed with feeling bad that she wasn’t focused on how it affected me (I tend to do that also). I told her that I know she felt bad, but it was an accident and I would feel more loved if she stopped being mad at herself and asked me how I was doing. She got it, and showed compassion. Jesus shares in Matthew that all the laws and rules can be summed up in loving God and loving others.

Lord, please help us to focus less on messing up and more on the ones we hurt. Shift our hearts and minds to your greatest commandments of loving you and others, and help our children to do the same. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Love

Remembering What the Lord Has Done

aaron-burden-40490-unsplash-1024x769My recent article shares how Jesus reminded John the Baptist to notice what God was doing. You can read the full article here: “Jesus’ Wisdom for John the Baptist: Noticing What God IS Doing”

In the book of Deuteronomy, the Lord called the Israelites to remember how he brought them out of Egypt in order to trust him going forward by using the word “remember” or “remembrance” 16 times.

Today, in this moment, what do you (or even your children) need to remember of the Lord to take the next step forward?

Lord, I pray we would all slow down, remember, and notice all the wonderful things you are doing in us and around us. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
