Article Published: “How to Attain ‘Full Life’ While Raising Children

424A6696My article, “How to Attain ‘Full Life’ While Raising Children” was just published on Church.org! You can check it out here: http://bit.ly/2yGnbFr

This is what Church.org said about it: “Linsey Driskill from Beautiful Hearted Parenting pours straight into our hearts once again. We can’t think of a way to summarize what she said any better than she wrote it, so all we can do is encourage you to read her loving words today. You’ll be glad you did!”

“Go Home to Your Family…”

Mark 5-19

Jesus did not let the healed man come with him. Instead, Jesus told him to go home to his family and tell them about the Lord. Powerful. It is easy to think the Lord always wants us to go, go go, whether it be another activity, living elsewhere, or something else. And, sometimes he does. But, this verse makes it clear: Sometimes Jesus wants us to stay put. Let’s embrace the peace in knowing that as you raise your kids, you are right where you need to be. You can be a follower of Jesus by “going home to your family and telling them how much the Lord has done for you.”

What Not to do…

The video that goes with my post today wouldn’t upload. You can visit my Facebook page to view the 30-second video to learn what NOT to do, from me! Here’s the link: https://www.facebook.com/BeautifulHeartedParenting/
It’s of my sweet daughter, Brooklyn, and me from 3 years ago. Every time I watch it, I want to say, “Be Quiet! Give her a chance.” I can be so quick to jump in, but have worked on holding back so my kids can have a chance to figure out the answers, develop their personal faith, and overcome obstacles. If we are always quick to rescue, they won’t learn, and it causes frustration (which can be seen in the video!). Brooklyn knew something at 3-years-old that I clearly didn’t – the importance of doing it on her own. Humbling. Let’s take a step back so our kids have some breathing and growing room. “When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise.”  Proverbs 10:19
